Homework is set regularly and details for each class are given
to parents at the start of
each year. This may be a piece of writing to complete, an exercise
to give extra practice, some research
or a learning task. A more
formal homework timetable operates in Years 5 and 6. In all of
these tasks parental encouragement and
involvement are invaluable.
We operate Paired Reading in various parts of the school and this
scheme involves children working with
parents at home. We believe
homework is valuable in that it develops individual study habits
which will be much needed later in life.
It is also an important link
between home and school. While expecting homework assignments to
be completed, we would hope children will
still be able to take part
in a choice of Cubs, Brownies, sports or hobbies and to have some
opportunity to relax after a hard day’s
work at school!
