| Classes |
| Children are generally taught in mixed ability classes throughout
the school, although Years 5 and 6 are put into ability sets for English
and Maths. They progress through the classes according to age, except
very occasionally where the individual needs of the child make an alternative
programme appropriate. Our policy is to treat each child as far as
possible as an individual. In practice this means that there will be
a balance between class, group and individually designed tasks. |

| Teachers |
| Full-time staff are first and foremost Class Teachers. Many have
special qualifications and interests in particular subjects and, as
well as teaching these subjects, are able to advise and assist other
colleagues when the need arises. The Headteacher has overall responsibility
for the running of the school including the work and welfare of all
pupils. The Senior Leadership Team (Headteacher, Deputy Head, Senior
Staff and Bursar) work together on curricular, pastoral and management
issues. Class Teachers have the closest knowledge of individual children
and should be consulted first if there are any concerns. The Headteacher
and Deputy Head are also pleased to see parents who request an appointment |
