Following the Education Reform Act of 1988, the Governors can only
request voluntary contributions for some very worthwhile activities,
for example day visits, which cannot, realistically, be funded from
the budget delegated to the school by the local authority. Such activities
can only take place if sufficient funding is forthcoming. For residential
visits the element of the cost related to accommodation and food is
a charge and other expenses are met by voluntary contributions, as
with day visits. The Governors’ policy states that no child
should be prevented from taking part in any activity during normal
school hours by reason of an inability or unwillingness of parents
to make a financial contribution. The Governors will also make every
effort to support a child’s participation in an activity where
parents are undergoing temporary financial
difficulties. Individual cases will need
to be discussed in confidence with the Headteacher.
The full policy
on charging and remissions
is normally available in the document
library and can also be inspected
at the school. |
