We are proud of the excellent behaviour
of the children at the School. We expect
children to develop for themselves a high
standard of courtesy, manners and good
behaviour. Through discussion involving
staff and pupils, we have developed a
set of simple rules which all children
are taught. Our behaviour policy includes
a system known as Assertive Discipline.
This is a positive approach focusing on
encouraging good behaviour, but still
providing consistent consequences for
misbehaviour.
Good
behaviour of all kinds is recognised quickly
and visibly rewarded. Children can gain
'best behaviour' certificates, stars,
and (from year three) 'house points'.
Many "My Best ever" certificates
are awarded or celebrated at weekly asemblies.
Consequences of misbehaviour can include:
verbal admonishment, loss of breaktime,
restriction or removal of extra curricular
activities, extra work and occasionally,
for children in Year 3 upwards, detention.
If detentions are held, parents will be
given at least 24 hours notice.
We keep parents informed of both good and
poor behaviour. We also encourage children
to reflect on problem situations in which
they have been involved and to learn how
to avoid similar difficulties in the future.
